Welcome In his "Rule for Monks", St. Benedict stated that the monks were to work for their living "by their own hands", and thus not to beg for their livelihood from others. Hence all Benedictine and Cistercian monasteries support themselves by labor in its many manifestations. Up until modern times, the chief means of support was agriculture, but in our days, many other legitimate forms of labor have been used, i.e.,cheese making, art, printing, stained glass, and now more than ever before, retail stores for selling one's own products, and/or those obtained elsewhere. This E-Store is one of those ways. Holy Spirit Monastery Gifts features products made by our own hands, including fudge and fruitcake, along with carefully selected products from other monasteries. On this website we are pleased to offer our products in a variety of gift sets and baskets, perfect for any special occasion. We also have a variety of books authored by some of our own monks. Ora et labora. St. Benedict's simple motto reflects our goal at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit: To serve and contemplate God in all we do. We believe work done for the sake of love, as we strive to remain open to the Holy Spirit, is itself a form of prayer. It is in this spirit that we produce and offer our handmade food items to you and your loved ones. At times of celebration, we hope you will find our quality, handmade food products useful in expressing your love and thoughtfulness to loved ones in your life. Please enjoy your visit to our online store, and be sure to visit our monastery, greenhouse and gift shop if your travels bring you to the Atlanta area (see below for directions).
